All public, private universities to remain shut from today

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that all the public and private universities along with all affiliated medical, textile, engineering and other colleges across the country will remain closed until further notice.

The UGC made the announcement in a statement issued Tuesday night signed by UGC secretary Dr Ferdous Zaman.

Considering the safety of the students, UGC also directed the university authorities to vacate the residential halls.

Earlier in the day, all secondary, higher secondary and polytechnic institutions and colleges under the National University were declared closed until further notice.
