Judicial probe body to be formed over recent deaths

A judicial probe committee will be formed headed by Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman to inquire into the recent death incidents caused during violence over quota reform issue.

Six people were killed in clashes in different parts of the country last Tuesday during the students' quota reform movement.

Law Minister Anisul Huq, at a press briefing, on Thursday said the government will apply to the court next Sunday to bring forward the time of hearing.

August 7 is scheduled for hearing in the Appellate Division regarding the quota issue. 

Law Minister Anisul Huq also said the government is in favor of quota reform.

He called upon the students to withdraw their ongoing movement.

Calling upon the students to withdraw the movement, the law minister said, “As like father, I am requesting you to withdraw the movement.”

When asked, do you agree on the quota reform or not, the law minister said, "We agree with the quota protesters in principle on the quota reform issue."
