Govt will check if any general student made accused: Anisul Huq

Law Minister Anisul Huq said if any general student is sued and if their information is given by the quota reform activists, then the government will definitely check it.

The minister said this at a press conference in the capital's Gulshan on Tuesday.

Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain, Education Minister Mahibul Hassan Chowdhury and State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad A Arafat were present during the press briefing.

Anisul Huq said the government will restore congenial atmosphere for all students at all educational institutions.

The government will take care of the treatment of general students who were injured in the violence during the quota protest movement, said Anisul.

The law minister read out the much-awaited quota reform gazette notification at the press conference.

Regarding the judgment of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, the law minister said that the government has complied with the judgement of the Appellate Division.

When asked whether the students can go on the movement again, Anisul Huq said, “Basically it was an anti-quota protest seeking reforms. Quota has been reformed. Now they should go back to their respective educational institutions and concentrate on their studies.”

When asked about the government's decision regarding the ongoing recruitment, the law minister said, “It is clearly stated in the gazette notification that this order will be effective immediately.” 

“The minister of public administration is here, I hope the ministry of public administration will work according to this order in the current appointment as well,” he said.
