Heavy traffic congestion chokes Dhaka

Due to the prevailing situation caused by last week's quota reform movement and the consequent curfew, a general holiday was announced from Sunday to Tuesday countrywide. As a result, offices opened after five consecutive days since last Thursday.

The government offices will run from 11am to 3pm on Wednesday. Banks and the share market will also be open during this time. 

Meanwhile, the curfew was relaxed from 10am to 5pm. Many people took the chance to leave their houses. However, the lack of public transport has caused commuters to suffer immensely.

Many people were seen walking to work. The sudden crowd has also caused heavy traffic congestion, which was exacerbated by blockades set up by members of the law enforcement agencies at various points of the capital.
