Damaged stations of Metrorail cannot be operational even in one year

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that during the quota movement, the two metro rail stations damaged in the capital Dhaka will not be operational even in the next one year.

He said this while talking to reporters after visiting the damaged Setu Bhaban in Banani of the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Obaidul Quader said that Metrorail's Kazipara and Mirpur-10 stations were destroyed. Experts said it will not be possible to bring the equipment and make it operational even in a year.

Replying to a question, the bridges minister said, “Whatever decision Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina takes, we will implement it in phases. We don't want to do anything before her decision. She is observing everything closely and she has directly visited various destroyed facilities, including BTV. She has an account of all the losses. In what condition, when, which will be restarted I cannot say at the moment.”
