Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie on seven-day remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court has granted seven days police remand to BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie for his alleged involvement in vandalising and arson attacks on Bangladesh Television (BTV) during quota movement across the country on July 18.  

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Shanta Akhter passed the order after hearing both the sides on Saturday.

The police produced him before the court seeking 10 days remand. 

On Thursday, police arrested Annie from his house in the city’s Elephant Road.

In this regard, General Manager of BTV Mahfuja Akhter filed a case with Rampura Police Station on July 19.
