Mobile internet restored after 10 days

Bangladesh has restored 4G internet connection on Sunday afternoon 10 days after its disconnection across the country.

Earlier in the day, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said at a briefing that mobile internet is likely to be restored nationwide around 3:00pm.

The government shut down mobile internet on July 18 following the ongoing violent clashes across the country centring the quota reform movement.

On July 19, the Department of Disaster Management building, located adjacent to a data centre, was set on fire, disrupting broadband internet connection for the entire country. 

Both broadband and mobile internet was not available between July 18 and July 23.

Later on July 23, broadband internet was restored in stages on test basis.
