Ex-Shibir president, among 3, on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed three people including former president of Islami Chhatra Shibir Rashedul Islam Rashed on seven-day remand in an explosives act.

The two other remanded accused include Jamaat-e-Islami treasurer Khandaker Mizanur Rahman and executive committee member Mohammad Abdur Rashid.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi passed the order on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day remand in the case.

On July 27, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) arrested them from an office in Dhanmandi.

At that time, a couple of cocktails and other explosive substances were recovered from the office.
