Mild heat wave sweeping over parts of country

A mild heatwave is currently sweeping over two divisions and three districts and it may abate from some places.

"Mild heatwave is sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Rajshahi, Tangail and Kishoreganj and it may abate from some places", said a met office weather bulletin on Monday.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

The country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 37.0 degrees Celsius at Rangpur and the minimum temperature on Monday was recorded at 25.1 degrees Celsius at Kutubdia.

Meanwhile, the maximum rainfall in the last twenty-four hours till 6am on Monday was recorded at 41 millimetres (mm) at Patuakhali.

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country.
