Bangladesh declares state mourning for quota victims

A day of national mourning will be observed on Tuesday in memory of those killed in the violence of the quota reform movement.

The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain said that a condolence motion was adopted in today's meeting expressing profound grief at the demise of those killed during the quota reform movement.

Black badges will be worn and special prayers will be offered in mosques, temples and pagodas.
