Recent deaths regrettable, no one fulfilling constitutional duties: HC

The High Court has expressed regrets regarding the recent violence and deaths related to the quota reform movement. 

"The deaths in the last few days are regrettable. We are remorseful about the violence and deaths centring the quota reform movement," said the High Court. 

The remarks came from the bench of Justice Mostofa Zaman Islam and Justice S M Masud Hossain Dolon on Tuesday (30 July) during the hearing of a writ petition seeking directions to stop shooting protesters involved in the Quota Reform Movement and the release of six coordinators from DB custody. 

The High Court also said, "Everything is written on the Constitution and laws. However, none of us are fulfilling our constitutional duties. It is clearly stated on the CRPC how the police will act."
