Jamaat-Shibir to be banned anytime: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said the process to ban Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir is on the progress.

“It might come anytime soon,” he asserted.

The home chief made the remarks while briefing journalists at his office in the secretariat after a meeting with the members of the law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, Awami League-led 14-party alliance, at a Gono Bhaban meeting, unanimously reached decision to ban the two organisations.

Earlier, the High Court declared Jamaat's registration illegal.

Following the verdict, the Election Commission, on October 29, 2018, scrapped the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami.
