Interim government to be formed: Army chief

An interim government will soon be formed, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman said in his address to the nation at around 3:50pm on Monday. 

The army chief said he would meet the president and discuss the formation of an interim government. 

He said he spoke to the heads of major political parties, and that he hopes a successful interim government will be formed. 

None from the Awami League was present at this discussion, he said in reply to a question. 

The army chief has also asked everyone to maintain discipline and not take the path of violence.

"I am taking all responsibility, I hope you all will help me," he said. 

All the deaths will be accounted for and justice will be served, he said.
