Tuku, Palak, Shaikat placed on 10-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed three people - former deputy speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku, ex-state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Dhaka University Chhatra League General Secretary Tanbir Hasan Shaikat - on a 10-day remand each in a case filed over the death of rickshaw-puller Kamal Mia on July 19.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam passed the order on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Md Yusuf, a sub-inspector of Paltan Model Police Station and investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking 10-day remand plea for each of them.

Police arrested the three accused from Nikunja residential area in Khilkhet area of Dhaka city on Wednesday night.

Rickshaw driver Kamal Mia, 39, was shot dead in Paltan Thana area of ​​the capital during the anti-quota movement on July 19. Fatema Khatun, 36, the victim's wife, filed a murder case on July 20 with Paltan Police Station in the capital.
