Palak, 5 others remanded over Ideal college student killing

A Dhaka court has placed six people, including former state minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, on a seven-day remand in a case lodged over Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

The five other remanded accused are- former deputy speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku, Arif Khan Joy, Ahmed Hossain, Rear Admiral (read) Mohammad Sohayel, and Tanvir Hasan Saikat.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arobia Khanam passed the order as police

produced the six before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day remand each.

Saifullah was gunned down in the Lalbagh area on July 18 as he was taking part in an anti-discrimination student movement. His father filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station on August 19.
