Maritime ports asked to hoist cautionary signal 3

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has asked the country's maritime ports to hoise Local Cautionary Signal No. Three as stormy weather is expected to affect the ports. 

"The low-pressure area over Northwest Bay and adjoining southern part of Bangladesh intensified into a well-marked low and now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area. Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over the North Bay. Gusty/squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh," according to a warning message issued by the BMD on Monday. 

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra were advised to keep hoisted Local Cautionary Signal No. Three (R) Three. 

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay were advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice. 

Meanwhile, the BMD predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind at many places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, as well as a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
