Ex-IGP Mamun on 8-day, Shahidul on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former inspectors general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun to eight days and AKM Shahidul Hoque to seven days of remand in two murder cases.

They were produced before the court at around 6:45am on Wednesday. 

Mamun was placed on remand in a case filed over the death of a grocery shop owner, Abu Saeed, in Mohammadpur. Meanwhile, Shahidul was placed on remand in a case filed over the death of 45-year-old trader Abdul Wadud in the city's New Market area.

Mamun and Shahidul were arrested early on Tuesday.
