Gas tank explosion at ship-breaking yard in Chattogram injures 12

At least 10 workers received critical burn injuries following a blast at the green ship-breaking yard of SN Corporation in Sitakunda of Chattogram on Saturday morning.

The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Assistant Secretary of Bangladesh Ship Breakers and Recycling Association (BSBRA) Nazmul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said the cause of the explosion has not yet been ascertained.

He also said that the casualties were not immediately identified.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost sub-inspector Alauddin Talukder said 10 injured people have been admitted to the hospital.

SN Corporation obtained a green certificate last year.
