Low-pressure forms over Bay of Bengal

A low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and under its influence, stormy weather may affect the coastal areas. 

"A low-pressure area has formed over South-Eastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining NorthEast Bay of Bengal," reads a marine warning message issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday. 

The low-pressure area is likely to move North-Eastward and intensify further. 

Under the influence of the low pressure, stormy weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay, and coastal areas of the country, the message adds. 

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted Local Cautionary Signal No Three (R) Three. 

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay were advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution.
