DU authority not involved in 'mass marriage' programme

The University of Dhaka (DU) authority has said it is not involved in the "mass marriage" programme being arranged by students of various halls of the university. 

A press release signed by DU Office of the Public Relations Deputy Director Md Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter on Monday. 

According to the release, the university authority did not approve such a programme. Moreover, no one officially informed the authorities of such a programme. 

The release also added that the initiative to hold such a programme was taken by individual students.
