Mozammel Babu, Shahriar Kabir remanded for 7-days

A court on Tuesday placed Ekattor Television Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mozammel Haque Babu and Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee advisory council chairman Shahriar Kabir on a seven-day remand in the Liza murder case filed with the Ramna police station.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order after granting a remand plea from the investigation officer of the case inspector Md Payel Hossain.

On July 18, domestic help Liza was shot in police firing during an agitation spontaneously participated by students and general people near Ramna Thana area. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries later on July 22.

The victim's father Md Joynal Shikder filed a case with Adabor Thana against 174 including the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on September 5.

Shahriar Kabir was arrested from his Banani home around 12:30am on Tuesday by DB Police.

Mozammel Babu was caught by locals from the Dakshin Maizpara and Porakandulia border area in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh District around 6am on Monday. Later, he was handed over to the Dhobaura Police Station.
