Menon on 3-day remand over attack on Mirza Abbas

Rashed Khan Menon, President of Bangladesh Workers Party and also former civil aviation and tourism minister, has been put on a three-day remand for making attack on BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas during an election campaign.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque passed the order on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, investigating officer of the case produced Menon before the court with a five-day remand prayer.

According to the case statement, on December 15, 2018, some unidentified miscreants equipped with sticks, rods, sharp weapons and cocktails swooped on Mirza Abbas and some BNP leaders during an election campaign in front of Segunbagicha kitchen market. Several BNP men sustained critical injuries in the incident.
