Mob lynching: 8 DU students suspended

Eight students of the University of Dhaka were suspended for allegedly being involved in beating a man named Tofazzal Hossain to death at the Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall.

A new provost was appointed at the hall after this incident. The aforementioned students also had their hall seats revoked by the authorities. 

The information was confirmed in a press release issued Saturday, signed by Md Rafiqul Islam, deputy director of DU Public Relations Office. 

According to the release, Md Elias Al-Mamun, a professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, was appointed as the new provost of the Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall.

The suspended students are- Md Jalal Miah, former deputy secretary of science and technology affairs of Bangladesh Chhatra League's FH unit, also a student of the Department of Physics, Al Hossain Sazzad of the Department of Geography, Sumon Mia of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment, Muttakin Sakin Shah of Institute of Nutrition and Food Science (INFS), Md Ahsan Ullah of the Department of Mathematics, Md Firoz Kabir of the Department of Botany, Md Abdus Samad of the Department of Physics, and Wazibul Alam of the Department of Oceanography.
