Two-day fresh remand granted for Altaf George

A Dhaka court has put former Awami League (AL) lawmaker from Kushtia-4 constituency Selim Altaf George on two-day fresh remand in a murder case.

Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Arafatul Rakib passed the order on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, investigation officer (IO) Altaf Hossain prayed for five-day fresh remand for him upon completion his three-day remand.

On September 17, Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Altaf from Dhaka’s Lalmatia area in a case filed over killing an auto-rickshaw puller at Mohammapur in the capital city.

Auto-rickshaw driver Md Roni was killed on July 19 at Muhammadpur area during the anti-discrimination student movement.

A murder case was lodged with Mohammadpur Police Station to this end.
