One arrested over attacking ex-US ambassador Bernicat's motorcade

Police on Monday night arrested one charge-sheeted accused in the case filed over attacking former US Ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia Bernicat's motorcade in the capital's Mohammadpur area in 2018.

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police apprehended Siam Hasan, 26, from a house at Tajmohol Road under Mohammadpur Police Station at 11:30 pm, according to an SMS from the DB media and public relations wing.

Siam was accused in the supplementary charge sheet in the case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station over attacking the motorcade of the former US ambassador to Bangladesh.

According to media reports, the vehicle carrying the former US ambassador Marcia Bernicat came under attack as it left the house of Shusashoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan) Secretary Badiul Alam Majumdar in Mohammadpur on August 4, 2018.

The detainee, Siam, was also accused in cases filed over killings during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
