Ex-railways minister Sujan sent to jail

Former railways minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan has been sent to jail on end of his five-day remand in a murder case filed during students movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the investigating officer Mrigank Shekhor Talukder, also a sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station, produced him before the court.

On September 22, Sujan was placed on a five-day day remand while he was shown arrested in the case on September 17 after arresting the AL leader on September 16 from Room 833 of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Shyamoli of Dhaka.

Rafiqul was shot in front of Monwara Hospital on July 19 and he died the following day.

Later, the victim's wife Narzia Akhter filed a case against Sheikh Hasina and 194 others with Jatrabari Police Station.
