Tiger population increases in the Sunderbans

Tiger population in the Bangladesh portion of the Sunderbans has increased, Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said on Tuesday. 

She made the remarks while announcing the results of the Sunderbans Tiger Census-2024 at a press conference at the Secretariat. 

According to the survey conducted in 2023-24, the number of tigers in Bangladesh's Sundarbans was 125, the adviser said. Additionally, the density of tigers per 100 square kilometres of forest was found to be 2.64.
