Travel ban imposed on ex-MPs Showkat, Azad, Shaheen Chaklader

A court has imposed a travel ban on former Barguna-2 lawmaker Showkat Hasanur Rahman (Rimon), his wife Rownak Rahman, Gaibandha-4 lawmaker Md Abul Kalam Azad and his wife Ruhul Ara Rahim and former Jessore-6 lawmaker Shaheen Chaklader and his family members over graft allegations.

The other people barred by the court from travelling abroad are- Shaheen's wife Farhana Zahan Mala, two daughters Samia Zahan Antora, and Maisha Zahan Ohona and son Zabeer Chaklader.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the orders on Wednesday, allowing separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC deputy directors Md Saiduzzaman and Md Shafi Ullah filed the pleas, while public prosecutors defending cases for the anti-graft body, Mahmud Hossain Jahangir and Md Rezaul Karim Reza moved the petitions before the court.
