Former overseas employment minister Imran Ahmad arrested

The Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested former expatriates' welfare and overseas employment minister and former lawmaker of Sylhet-4 constituency Imran Ahmad from the capital's Banani area at around Sunday midnight.

Confirming his arrest, police issued a short statement on Monday without mentioning further details.

An official familiar with the process said that he was accused in a number of cases filed after the Awami League government's ouster and would be produced before the court later the same day.

Earlier on September 3, a case was filed against Imran Ahmad and 102 others with Paltan Police Station on charges of embezzlement and human trafficking.
