No decision on president issue yet: Press Secy

The government has not taken any decision regarding the removal of President Mohammed Shahabuddin so far, CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed on Wednesday. 

The government has also asked those who are demonstrating in the surrounding areas of Bangabhaban to leave the place, he said during a press briefing in front of the State Guest House Jamuna.

Recently, President Mohammed Shahabuddin gave a special interview where he claimed that he does not have proof of the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation. Consequently, on Tuesday night, protesters tried to break the barricades in front of President Mohammed Shahabuddin's official residence Bangabhaban demanding his resignation. 

Members of the army and police personnel were seen intervening to stop the protesters.

Protesters were agitating and chanting slogans against the incumbent president. 

Police also charged batons at protesters and fired a tear gas canister to disperse them. The army tried to control the situation. Later, sound grenades were fired to stop the protesters. 

At a rally the same day, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement staged a protest rally with a five-point demand including termination of the constitution, removal of president Mohammed Shahabuddin and banning the Chhatra League as a terrorist organization.
