Home ministry forms 4-member taskforce to investigate Sagar-Runi murder case

The government has formed a four-member taskforce to probe journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case following the apex court’s verdict.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.

The taskforce has been asked to submit investigation report in Sagar-Runi murder case before the apex court by six months.  

According to the circular, the taskforce can co-opt members.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chief was made convener of the taskforce and three representatives, one each from the Department of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), will act as member.

The representatives from the Department of Police and CID will not be below the rank of additional deputy inspector general (DIG) and RAB’s officer will not be below the director, the circular added.
