Students of DU affiliated 7 colleges block Science Lab intersection

A number of students from DU affiliated 7 colleges blocked the capital's Science Lab intersection on Tuesday afternoon, demanding a separate university. 

A number of students took up positions at the Science Lab intersection at around 12:15pm. The blockade caused traffic to come to a standstill on the Mirpur road. The adjacent roads also became congested. 

Confirming the matter, Newmarket Zone Police Assistant Commissioner Tareq Latif said they were trying to hold a discussion with the students. 

Students of the 7 colleges have been holding demonstrations since last week. On Saturday, they demanded forming a committee or commission in three days to form a separate university for them. They again took to the streets on Tuesday as the demand remained unfulfilled.
