Ex-EC secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed sent to jail

A Dhaka court has sent former secretary of Election Commission (EC) Helal Uddin Ahmed to jail in a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque passed the order on Tuesday.

The murder case was lodged over the killing of BNP activist Mokbul on September 30, 2024.

Earlier in the day, police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the completion of probe.

On October 25, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter remanded him in the case.

Helal Uddin Ahmed was arrested from Khulshi area of Chattogram city on October 23.
