Names of six public medical colleges renamed after respective districts

The government has renamed the names of country’s six public medical colleges.

Dropping the names of individuals, the government has chosen the names of the respective districts where the colleges are located to rename the colleges.

In this regard, a gazette signed by Secretary of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division Dr Md Sarwar Bari was issued on Wednesday, said a press release of the ministry on Thursday.

According to the notification, Colonel Maleque Medical College in Manikganj has been renamed as Manikganj Medical College, Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College in Noakhali as Noakhali Medical College, Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur as Jamalpur Medical College, Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail as Tangail Medical College, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College in Faridpur as Faridpur Medical College and M Abdur Rahim Medical College in Dinajpur as Dinajpur Medical College.
