Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury sent to jail

A Dhaka court has sent former Housing and Public Works Minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury to jail in a case filed over the murder of BNP activist Mokbul.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zaiadur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, police produced him before the court after end of his five-day remand in the case.

Police also pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the completion of probe.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera, on November 1, placed Chowdhury on five-day remand in the case.

Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury was arrested from the city's Mirpur area early on that day (November 1) by a team of detective branch (DB) of police.
