Former DNCC Mayor Atiqul remanded

A Dhaka court has placed the former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mohammad Atiqul Islam on a 5-day remand in a murder case filed with the capital's Uttara East Police Station. 

Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Choudhury's court gave the order on Wednesday as police produced the former mayor before the court with a remand plea. 

Atiqul Islam was arrested in the capital on 16 October. A team of Mohammadpur police arrested him from the Mohakhali DOHS area in the evening. The next day, he was sent to jail.
