Titumir College students stage protest inside campus

Students of the capital's Titumir College have gathered inside their campus, demanding their educational institute be declared a university. 

The students gathered inside the campus at around 11:30am on Tuesday. At first, police were inside the campus as well, but later took up positions outside the campus in the face of student's objections. 

Confirming the matter, Banani Police Station Officer in Charge Md Russel said they will not be allowed to carry out any programme by blocking roads today. 

On Monday, Titumir College students took up position under the Mohakhali overbridge at around 11am, stopping traffic on both road and rail track. According to eyewitnesses, students lobbed brickbats at a train that refused to stop, injuring several passengers.
