HC orders forming probe committee to reassess Adani deals

The High Court has ordered to form a high-level probe committee to reassess all the deals regarding electricity with India's Adani Group. 

A High Court bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy gave the order on Tuesday. 

The bench directed the cabinet secretary to form the committee within a month and to submit the probe report within the next two months. It also directed the committee to include international fuel experts and international law experts in the committee. 

Additionally, the bench issued a rule asking why the direction to cancel the disparate deal with the Adani group would not be given. 

The court has also ordered the documents regarding the negotiations during the deal with Adani to be submitted within a month. 

Previously, a writ petition was filed at the High Court seeking directives to cancel all deals regarding electricity with India's Adani Group. Barrister M Kaium filed the petition on 13 November.
