7 Palli Bidyut staff suspended

Seven officials and staff of the Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samiti-2 were suspended after three students were electrocuted to death in the Udoykhali area of Sreepur in Gazipur. 

The Islamic University of Technology (IUT) students were on their way to Maya Resort, a picnic spot in Sreepur when the BRTC bus carrying them came into contact with a live electric wire of Palli Bidyut at around 11 am. 

The deceased were identified as Mozammel Hossain Naim, 24, Mostakim Rahman Mahin, 22, and Jobayer Alam Sakib, 22. One of the trio died on the spot while two others breathed their last at a nearby hospital. 

Confirming the matter, Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samiti-2 General Manager (GM) Md Akmal Hossain said high officials of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) visited the spot right after the incident and suspended seven officials and staff.
