Ex-IGP Mamun on 3-day remand in RMG worker murder case

A court has placed former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on a three-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of garment worker Fazlul Karim during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order as police produced the former IGP before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in the case.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was arrested on September 3.

Fazlul Karim got shot on August 5 as he was taking part in the anti-discrimination movement in the Uttara area. He was rushed to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital. Fazlul Karim later died from his injuries.

His brother filed a case against 40 people in this regard.
