30 detained after lawyer's death in Chattogram

Members of the Police and joint forces have detained 30 people from the city's Kotowali Thana area over the murder of a lawyer on Tuesday. The process of lodging two cases at the Kotowali Police Station is also underway, police said. 

Chattogram Police Addl Deputy Commissioner Kazi Mohammad Tareq confirmed the matter to the Daily Samakal on Wednesday morning. 

A lawyer was killed, while several others were injured in the attack and clash between members of law enforcement agencies and supporters of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam Alif, 35, assistant public prosecutor of Chattogram Court.

ASI of Chittagong Medical College and Hospital police outpost Alauddin confirmed the lawyer's death to the Daily Samakal.
