Rumours of communal attack on man who died 50 years ago

Mymensingh Boro Bazar businessman Fanibhushan Dhar died nearly 50 years ago. However, the verified FaceBook page of Awami League claimed on Thursday night that a communal attack was recently carried out on the man. 

The post includes a video of 1 minute and 29 seconds, showing several men beating one another at Fanibhushan Traders shop. However, the time of the attack was not specified in the post. 

However, the Daily Samakal found that the real situation is far removed from what the Awami League claimed. 

Boro Bazar Businessmen Committee General Secretary Salman Omar Rubel told the Daily Samakal that it was not an attack, but a clash between two parties. 

The incident occurred at around 8:13pm on 26 October. Employees working under two different businessmen engaged in a verbal spat which resulted in a fight. Later another businessman attacked Fanibhushan's grandson Surajit Piplu in his shop. Later both parties lodged cases against each other. 

Confirming the matter, Kotwali Police Station Officer Shafikul Islam Khan said the claims made from the Awami League FaceBook page are entirely a rumour. The people who first engaged in the clash were hindu. Later, others got involved in the incident. Police filed cases from both parties. There is no communal element in this matter.
