Journalist Munni Saha detained, later handed to family

Journalist Munni Saha was detained from the capital's Karwan Bazar area on Saturday night. However, she was handed over to her family later considering her health. 

According to police, Munni Saha went to a media office at Janata Tower in Kawran Bazar. While she was leaving the office by car, a group of people blocked her way. On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and rescued her from the people.

She was detained around 10pm in a case filed in July, DMP deputy commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said. 

Munni Saha was taken to the Tejgaon Police Station first, he said, adding that later, she was shifted to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office on Minto Road. After completing legal procedures, she was handed over to her family later on Saturday night considering her health. 

Multiple cases were filed against Munni Saha. Currently, she is working as an editor of an online portal called 'Ek Takar Khabor'.
