11 Zika, 67 Chikungunia patients identified in Bangladesh

The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) has found Zika virus in 11 people and Chikungunya virus in 67 in Bangladesh this year, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has said. 

DGHS DG Professor Dr Md Abu Jafor disclosed the information at a press conference held at the DGHS conference room at around 11am on Monday. 

Most of the people infected by Zika and Chikungunya are residents of Dhaka, the DG said. The viruses were found while checking for Dengue infection. 

However, the DG assured that the mortality rate of these two virus infections is low, so there is nothing to panic about.
