Chief Minister of India's West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on Monday called for a United Nations peacekeeping force to be deployed in Bangladesh to secure the safety of religious minorities and bring stability to the country.
She also demanded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personal intervention in the matter.
Mamata made the remarks while addressing the Bengal Assembly on Monday. She said, "Government of India can take this matter up with the United Nations... so a peacekeeping force can be sent."
The West Bengal CM also said India's flag is being disrespected in Bangladesh, and that this proposal to deploy UN peacekeepers in Bangladesh will be sent to India's PM and President in the form of an appeal.
