No book festival on January 1

Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has said there will be no book festival on January 1 next year. He also said that the new year's textbooks will contain graffiti from the July-August Mass Uprising. 

The adviser made the remarks after a high-level view-exchange meeting at the Khulna DC office on Sunday morning. 

Mentioning that the distribution of textbooks may be delayed, the adviser explained that a foreign country was previously contracted to print the books. The tender was cancelled after August 5 and a new tender was called. This will delay the book distribution, however it will be completed by January. 

On January 1, the adviser also said something similar. While talking to local reporters at an event in Rangpur, he said primary-level students will receive 100 per cent textbooks in January, but there will be no celebrations like before.
