Economic Census 2024 begins after 10 years

The fourth Economic Census of Bangladesh has started after 10 years.

Statistics and Informatics Secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman opened the census at the BBS Square in Agargaon of the capital on Tuesday.

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) will conduct the census from December 10 to 26 utilising a fully digital system.

The census aims to get a comprehensive understanding of the structural changes in the nation's economy over time. 

In the inaugural address, he said the census will be conducted using tablet PCs and it will collect data from all - street vendors to industrialists.

A total of 95,000 data collectors will conduct the census across the country.
