Zubayer followers demand banning Saad followers after clash

Calling followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi a criminal organisation, followers of Maulana Zubayer called for banning them at a press briefing on Wednesday. 

Zubayer follower Maulana Mamunul Haque made the demand at the press briefing at the Secretariat after their meeting with seven advisers of the interim government. 

Replying to a question, Maulana Mamunul said, "Ijtema for Zubayer followers will be held for sure, but there is no chance for Saad followers to attend an Ijtema."

The meeting and subsequent press conference will be held after a clash erupted between the followers of Maulana Zubayer and Maulana Saad Kandhalvi on the Ijtema ground in Tongi. 

In the clash that started at around 3am on Wednesday, three people have died so far. Many more have been injured. 

In light of the situation, the government has deployed four platoons of BGB in the area. Later, section 144 was also imposed there indefinitely.
