Palak said internet was shut off on Hasina's order: Tajul Islam

Former state minister for posts, telecommunications and information technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has confessed that the internet was shut off countrywide during the July mass uprising on the orders of the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Palak made the confession to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) investigation agency, ICT Chief Prosecutor Advocate Md Tajul Islam told journalists on Thursday. 

ICT investigation agency interrogated Palak on Wednesday, where he gave such confessions. The Internet was shut off to hide the genocide from the world. 

During the mass uprising, Palak had claimed that the internet was shut off due to several reasons such as damage to the submarine cable and arson at the data centre. Advocate Md Tajul Islam said such statements were false.
