DNA report confirms body parts belong to MP Anar

Flesh and bones recovered by India's West Bengal police’s criminal investigating department (CID) probing the murder of Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar belonged to the slain lawmaker, DNA reports have confirmed. 

DNA from the body parts matched the DNA samples taken from MP Anar's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Dorin. The samples were tested at India's Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). Dorin came to Kolkata in November and gave her samples. 

Nearly four kilograms of flesh was recovered from a septic tank at Sanjeeva Garden housing, where the former MP was killed. Later, some bones were found in Bagjola Canal in the Krishnamurti area under South 24 Pargana district. Both the flesh and bones were sent to CFSL and found that they belonged to an adult male. 

Anar, a three-time MP and also president of Kaliganj upazila unit Awami League, went to India on May 12 on a personal visit to receive treatment. He went missing on May 13 after going out of the flat where he was residing in Kolkata's Borah Nagar area. 

According to the Kolkata police sources, Anar was taken to a flat in New Town in Kolkata, where he is believed to be strangled to death and his body was cut into pieces.
